Bouverie Preserve Sediment Reduction Project

Overview

Spye General Engineering was hired by Sonoma Resource Conservation District (SRCD) to implement road upgrade treatments using funding provided by a grant from the Clean Water Act 319(h) through the State Water Resources Control Board. Using road designs provided by SRCD and based upon concepts by Pacific Watershed Associates, Steve Pye and his crew constructed a large armored fill using 3’-8’ boulders at stream crossing within the Bouverie Wildflower Preserve outside Glen Ellen, CA. The armored fill will allow stream flows and natural debris to pass over the road during winter while also preventing erosion of the road surface and subsequent sediment pollution to Stewart Creek just below the road.
